This was just after breakfast and sitting on the deck about to get off to see the sites for the day.

We were able to watch the ship dock and it was amazing to see how the huge ship could dock so quick and accurate and softly. This guy was Jeff buddy they chatted for like an hour while we docked. He was actually from Canada too and this was their 18th cruise. Can you imagine 18 cruises?!?!?!

Pictures of ship docking

It was cool to see the boat go sideways to dock!

We did not book a trip with the cruise line, we just hired a taxi and he was GREAT worth every penny. We paid him $10 each for about 2 1/2 hour tour. This picture is of the mountains and the houses. The houses their are sooo poor and made of cement and that is it. It was the closets to poor and unfortunate Ive ever seen. They drove super wild and the roads were barely big enough for 2 cars to pass.

The taxi driver stopped on the side of the road and jumped out and would pull stuff off of trees. He pulled off bananas, a leaf that they made manderine orange extract from smelled GREAT. This is a cocoa bean, YES I MEAN CHOCOLATE!!! So the plant is super weird looking and the cocoa bean is covered it white stuff they peal it off and let the cocoa bean dry and voila you have cocoa powder.

Grenada is known as the SPICE ISLAND. They export all their spices all over the world. This a nutmeg. the white part is the outside of the nutmeg plant and when it is ripe the white part splits and the seed is the nutmeg. The red part is called Mace they use it as a spice also. So you let the seed dry and grate it and you have fresh nutmeg.

We stopped at a little shack on the side of the road, turns out it was the taxi guys wife. They just try to survive there and make a living. Makes me feel grateful for what I have. So below is the Coca plant. It looks like a big fruit and you break it open and you see all the little white pods, you peel off the white covering and it is the cocoa bean inside. Never thought it would look like that!!

This is the first place ever in my life to drive on the opposite side of the road. It was wild driving down the street and being on the wrong side. This picture is of a stadium right next to the ocean AMAZING view.

This is of me in front out our ship, super big!!

Aren't we just two cuties!!!

It was so weird walking between to ships that were the same size. You feel super small next to them.

We were just about to leave for dinner that night.

Dominica!!!!
Super great views just getting off the ship for the day.

We did not book a day trip with the cruise but since the taxi experience the day before went so well we decided to go with another taxi. We really wanted to see the black sand beaches but the taxi guy recommended Champagne beach because its the best snorkeling spot on the island and you can see bubble from the ocean floor coming up, its a volcanic island. So as you can see by the picture below there is no nice beach all ROCKS!!!! So it just proves to go with what you want to do and not really let others talk you out of it. BUT it was an amazing time snorkeling!!!
I could not get the hang of snorkeling, it was hard for me to breath while my head was under water ha ha. Jeff spent most of the time snorkeling but it was amazing to be swimming in perfect temperature water and get a sun tan in a matter of minutes. We used so much sunscreen!!!

In the picture below, we were snorkeling in the bottom left corner. It was sooooo much fun to see fishies and clear clear water!!

Jeff couldn't be any happier!!!!
